I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and earned my Master of Social Work Degree from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Chadron State College. My counseling style is direct, warm, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
I have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups dealing with a range of issues. My specialties include working with couples and adults treating anxiety, depression, difficulties in decision making, self-esteem, childhood trauma, suicidality, grief processing, interpersonal relationship difficulties, work-life balance, stress management, and sexual issues. I have a particular passion for helping individuals through major life transitions.
Whether you are leaving home for college, struggling in your marriage, becoming a parent, raising children and teens, dealing with midlife changes, or caring for aging parents, I am here to guide you through these pivotal moments. I am a sex-positive therapist who believes it is important to provide a space to discuss sexuality and sexual wellness without fear of judgment and shame. I am also open to incorporating spirituality into treatment.
I incorporate aspects of different theoretical perspectives in my practice to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to the counseling process. I work to develop this relationship by providing a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore and process their emotional experiences. I hope to support and empower all clients to recognize their inner strength and their ability to overcome whatever obstacles come their way. I specialize in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness, and meditation. These evidence-based techniques empower you with the knowledge and skills to tackle whatever challenges you’re facing. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful method to help individuals process and overcome trauma and distressing life experiences.
I am married with a blended family including two adult children, and 5 bonus kids. I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors as well as spending time with family and friends. I believe that an important component of therapy is for clients to have hope for positive change in their lives. I believe that life can be inherently challenging, yet clients are capable of meeting those challenges with the appropriate guidance and support.
